SUCCESS STORIES

The Founders of Study Concepts have successfully raised their children with the highest academic standards and are proud of their children’s accomplishments. They have now turned their attention to focus on the needs of other students by employing the same techniques that helped their children to excel in multiple areas. They are dedicated to ensuring that all students who attend Study Concepts can be successful by focusing on each of the students as individuals and providing them the tools necessary to accelerate and retain learning and thereby help achieve their maximum potential. While in the Gifted & Talented program in Elementary and Middle Schools some of the accomplishments of their children include one-course scholarships at local universities like GMU and GW based on Johns Hopkins University’s CTY organized SAT test scores, perfect scores in American Mathematics Contest (AMC-8) examination and in Virginia Mathematics League contest, President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Math Counts Regional Winner, being a Finalist in Science Olympiad, State Finalist in Challenge 24, World finalist in Odyssey of the Mind, First place in Optimist Oratorical State Competition.

Following upon this success, while studying at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, they continued with stellar high school level academic accomplishments such as perfect SAT scores, First place in VHSL State Forensics Competition, Publishing in IS&T – SPIE (“Imaging Science and Technology) journal & presenting research paper at their conference in San Francisco, and receiving a U.S. patent for pattern classification algorithm.

Some of the notable school, regional, state, national and international level awards, recognitions and scholarships they achieved provide good testimony that excellence in academics is achievable through focus. These include, Intel Science Talent Search Finalist, National Winner of the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement, Intel International Science and Engineering Fair First place Winner, eCybermission winner, Congressional Award Gold Medal from the US Congress, Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, National AP Scholar award from the College Board and the award of National Davidson fellow scholarship, USA TODAY’s Academic first team, Micron scholar, and Lucent scholar.

During their high school career, their academic achievements were furthered by selection and mentoring at prestigious Internships such as:

  • RSI – Research Science Institute at MIT: the most prestigious science summer program you can
get into as a high school student.
  • NIH – National Institute of Health Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research: highly
selective summer program where students collaborate side-by-side with some of the leading
scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research.
  • NRL – Naval Research Laboratory: competitive summer internship offering high school students a
spectrum of applied research opportunities within science and engineering.

The founders’ four children went on to pursue undergraduate education at schools including Georgetown, Stanford, Harvard and Duke as well as international studies at the London School of Economics and Oxford.
